HM better drops.. sure more rares... around half of all those rares have no dmg mods for me (Sucks to find 2 req 9 zodiac bows with no inherent dmg mod or energy mod )

Only things that i have been able to sell quick were elite tomes.
i have always had a hard time trying to sell a weapon in trade chat, i'd advise just using gwguru sell forum for your items, or if they aren't worth your time try the give away section where you can make some people actually happy with them.
Sure it's not build in guild wars self but it does work better then trade chat.

Just lower your prices and you'll be amazed at the interest, don't blame the trade system.

No matter how much you complain for an auction house, you're not going to get it anytime sooner than if you haven't complained. Just use guru trade forums to sell your stuff.

^Agree with Lacasner. There is a surplus of nice rares in the game right now. As was stated earlier, it really is a buyers market. If you are asking for 100k +xx for anything but the rarest of the rare you can plan to be spamming for hours w/o a sale.

And I'm sure you will spam. And spam. And spam.

/sigh

if you will look up you will see a tab that says Auctions. I use that to sell everything so that I don't have to be 1 of those Spammers in LA ect.

Personally, I just say "blowout sale" and liquidate my greens and golds for 1-5k a pop. I don't bother saying "Hmm... I could get 40k for that with the right buyer."

Fact of the matter is, the amount of gold people have to spend is going down; farming for gold isn't a viable solution anymore. What I might have dropped 5k on months ago telling myself "I can make this back in a quarter hour" I might not do so today.

My advice is to lower your prices on the junky to mediocre stuff and be paitent with the good stuff. With the advent of Hardmode, there is an oversupply of golds. You just have to be persuasive in your appeal to garner someone else's hard earned gold. I suggest winning over their ineterest (with a low price) and subsequently, their wallet.

1. ArenaNet has said there will be no auction house in GW. You can ask all you want, it won't happen. Find other options if you don't like spending all your time selling.

2. guru new Auction site has Shop capability - list your items with prices. Come back when it sells.

3. For those of you with max mods or almost great stuff who don't want to merch it, guru also has a new Giveaway section. That's where I'm getting rid of anything I have worth less than 10k.

I have noticed (as others have stated) that ANet can't win. Players wanted more challenge - Hard Mode arrived. Players wanted better drops in HM than in Normal Mode - better drops arrived. Now players are complaining about the increased amount of rare drops - do you really want ANet to solve that?

QFT.

Loot scaling plus more gold drops in HM means a general deflation in GW, which isn't a bad thing. The problem is that sellers haven't dropped their asking prices, while at the same time complaining about their inability to sell items. Just look at GWGuru Auctions for your proof. Pages and pages of items with high starting prices and no bids whatsoever.

The only problem that I have is that it's getting hard to sell anything on GWGuru auctions. This is due to all of the junk that's overpriced and automatically relisted. Hard to even sell stuff cheap when there's so much useless crap being sold - req 11 divine symbol +5 armor for 10k anyone? About half of what's being sold are things that I would send directly to the merchant.

Remove minimum bids for GWGuru auctions? That'd be nice.

with the loot scaling update and hm there are tons of "rares" in the market and less and less gold. it doesnt take a genius to figure out that the economy is in a transition phase [or rather a deflating phase].

like others in this thread have already mentioned, its a buyers market. try dropping your prices and if that doesnt work, merch to your hearts discontent.

Its not the height of the prices, its trying to find the buyers. I offer at reasonable to low prices in kamadan, yet you can't find buyers. It's just a problem of a limited market (in terms of amount of buyers and sellers at the right location), not of a saturated market. Guru auction doesn't work too well, as again the audience is too small, and the site a bit sluggish. That aint promoting a convenient buy either. I try to sell there a bit, but I didnt make a fortune there for sure. Though if I would look for something, i'll be certainly looking at guru.

I said it before (which got ninja-deleted by an overzealous mod - overzealous mod on GURU? NAH!), and I'll say it again:

If there is no improved trade system implemented either before or with GW:EN, I will not buy it, period. Screw all this QQing and threatening to quit crap, I'm letting my money do the talking. The trade system has always been a pet peeve of mine since the first time I played - and it only got worse, much worse.

FYI: "Improved Trade System" simply means something better than a 31-character party search band-aid - it doesn't have to be an Auction House, which I realize Anet has repeatedly said they will not add. They have also repeatedly said "trade improvements are coming!", so surely there is a middle ground, here.

Well for me it takes me one minute to load any page on the auction site... if I'm lucky. That's always been a pretty big deterrent.

Well with all the spam in the local channel I can name 200+ people(and I am sure there are plenty more) that play regularly that REFUSE to buy from anyone NOT in the trade channel or on the party search trade.

And no Anet can not win, because of the spoiled me me me me jerks that play this game. Like to see any of you try and please 2+ million people, hell try and please 25.

Really if the game causes you so much stress and unpleasantness, Why the hell are you playing it??? Can you not find something better to do with your time that YOU LIKE???

Guru's Auction is a great place to sell things, and you've already proved that you like coming to the website, now try doing it for something other than complaining!

The economy needed to be deflated, the greedy ones took prices so far off the charts it wasn't even funny. Hmmmm, guess that goes back to the me me me jerks, doesn't it.

So as opposed to rage quitting GW, I think I am done with this board. Yes, I know none of you will shed a tear, and more than likely flame on, but hey the board didn't used to be THIS BAD, and you could actually ask a question without fear of flaming and insta-closure.

There is some good advice here, some of which I've tried. I think it's all a matter of right place, right district, right time. There lies the problem. One place to sell is the way to go.

Guess all those energy +5's and 15 over 50 inscriptions can just go to the freakin merchant.

Well, I just finished my Canthan Elite Skill Hunter title and have come to the conclusion that the current system is unplayable for me.

In normal mode, I don't get enough drops to make it worthwhile (I used to take 3 heroes instead of a full 8 h+h group to get a little extra but that does not work anymore since the scaling, neither does soloing normal).

I am not good enough to solo hard mode and the only gold I saw while playing hm h+h was a lousy one anyway - I've actually had more gold drops in normal than in hm.

When I do get a good gold -and I had a few in normal - or a green, there is no way to sell it effectively. After carrying Mossbeard's Wand around for 3 days, I finally had to add in a staff upgrade and 2 other decent greens to get 6k for all - which comes to less tha 2k/green.

I would like to go for Tyrian and Elonian Skill hunter but I am currently down to 1.2k in my inventory (after salvaging all the runes, materials and insignias from my other chars to help pay for the elites skills on 1). Whether trying to farm or sell, it averages me nearly an hour to get the 1k for 1 skill now. I managed to slug out the last few k for the last few elites for the title but now I'm beat.

I'm too discouraged to try and learn any more of the farming methods people are posting here - I think I am just a lousy player because the ones I have tried just don't work for me.

So - OK, I admit it. I'm not a casual player or a hard core player. I'm just a lousy player. I just didn't realize how lousy till loot scaling and hard core came out. To get the skills for the titles I want, I need money. And I'm just too bad of a player to earn that money in any kind of reasonable time.

So what would help a lousy player like me without making mobs so easy that the average person would not want to play the game anymore?

Undo loot scaling, put in some kind of trade system that does not require standing and advertising wts to a limited number or people, or lower the cost of the sig of cap so that I don't have to spend 1 hour to get the money for 1 skill.

But, since none of those are likely to happen, I think it is time for me to go and leave this game to those of you who know what you are doing.

GW was a good game. It still is a good game for those of you who are good players. So, do enjoy it, take care, and good luck with EOTN.

Good bye.

I've been using GWG auctions and having reasonable luck. Sure, I might not always get as much money as if I sat around in town spamming, but I save enough time that I end up with more time to run around getting more stuff to sell. I've made something like 30k the last couple of days, which might not be an insane amount to some, but to me it's not bad cash.

I think it's just the trade system pissing them off. Everything else in the game is fine.

A part of the sellers' argument is that not everyone uses the Guru. So those who are having a hard time selling things aren't complaining here, but instead may just be giving up all together or still trying to sell (and we now know how dangerous that is, what with the new regulations and whatnot).

Now to my own point. What I'm confused about is why there wasn't an auction house available at release. Both Final Fantasy XI and WoW had been out for awhile, both with very functional auctions houses, so it's strange as to why ANet decided not to include one - there may be a good reason to this, but I cannot see one. Nonetheless, the lack of a decent trading system has dealt a huge and heavy blow to the franchise, and the continued lack of one is just deepening the wound.

While I am asking for perhaps a better method of trading, they have already stated that nothing can be done about it. I can understand that completely. I'm just disappointed, that's all.

Well, Guru has 67,000 registered users, 5,000 auctions, and typically 300 bidders online at any given time. Better than LA, Kaening City, or Kamadan.

Yes, it would be nice to have an auction house. But we don't. Get over it.

I've had good success with Guru Auctions, primarily due to the fact that I always list my items with starting bids less than anyone else selling the same / similar item. Then people will actually bid on the item, and I often get more than what others ask. Odd how that psychology works.

If you wonder why Guru Auctions doesn't work well for some, then look no further than the inflated starting prices that most ask. I just checked the home page and found: +44 shield handle for 2k, 250 Champaign Poppers for 50k, and a Vampiric Oni Blade 15% enchanted for 90k. Gee, I wonder why people don't buy this wonderful stuff.
